Rev. Padgett originally hails from Chicago, Ill. where his family of origin, still reside. After working in the Telecommunications industry for nearly 20 years, he was called to communicate in a different way. As a Truth student and Metaphysician, he answered a call to ministry and became an ordained Unity minister in June of 2000. He considers the primary purpose of his ministry is to help others, “Discover the God of their own understanding.”
Rev. Padgett believes that the Spirit of God connects with each of us through distinctive and uniquely, individual means. Our co-creative responsibility as spiritual beings is to discern how our connection works, be open to God's guidance, and be willing to take action on our guidance. In this way, we can live the rich abundant life that God has intended for us from the very beginning, experiencing spiritual fulfillment, living on purpose, and being a beneficial presence in the world.
Upon ordination from Unity Institute, Rev. Padgett was Sr. Minister at Unity Church of Christianity in Tulsa, OK, for three-and ½ years. And most recently was minister at Unity Spiritual Center in Chapel Hill for over two-years. His main focus for church ministry is building community that cares about each others dreams, hopes, and challenges. This is expressed as love, acceptance, encouragement, and truthfulness. A heart-centered spiritual community will inspire and awaken one another to a greater experience of God and life!
With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious Studies, Rev. Padgett has delved deeply into numerous spiritual traditions, with a particular emphasis on Taoism, Buddhism, and the Kabbalah. While his theology is decidedly Unity, he also focuses on what he calls, "The Golden Threads" that bind all spiritual paths to the One God.
Rev. Padgett has also served in ministry as a full-time Hospice Chaplain, and has completed 5 units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education); 4 of them as a one-year resident Chaplain for the Moses Cone Health System in Greensboro, NC. He currently resides in Augusta, GA.
